Things you must know about Yarns and fabrics

Yarns are composed of two or more fibers. When these fibers are spun together, they form one yarn. These fibers can range from anything natural and man-made. Natural fibers are those that are extracted from the plants and animals naturally. For example, Cotton is obtained from flower of cotton plant and wool is obtained from the fur of animals. Manmade fibers are synthetically produced, either by chemicals or from plants by undergoing various break-down processes. For example, Polyester is obtained from chemical processes and Lyocell is obtained from wood pulp of Eucalyptus tree. A Deep knowledge of chemical combination can be gained by joining the Top Fashion Institute in Chandigarh.

These yarns are put together to make a fabric. Multiple yarns can be used to make one fabric. There are methods where the yarns are mixed together to make fabric that are blended. When such yarns are used to make fabrics, that particular fabric possesses the qualities of both the fibers and yarns used to make that piece.

There are different methods used to make a fabric. When yarns are kept through a method of weaving, fabric is called Woven fabric. The yarns are interlaced vertically and horizontally to form the fabric. These are called Warp (vertical) and weft (horizontal). It does not stretch well, only the bias (diagonal) stretches unless the yarn is elastic. Woven cloth usually frays at the edges, unless measures are taken to counter this, such as the use of pinking shears or hemming. A nice use of Fabrics and yarns can be seen in the great work of IIFD, recognized as Best fashion Designing College in Chandigarh. Some fabrics are produced for a variety of end use applications which provide functional qualities. Some of these qualities are moisture management, UV Protection, anti-Microbial, Thermos Regulation and Wind Water Resistance. These textiles are called technical textiles.
