Today we have Fashion Designing Institute teaching Fashion designing course to aspiring fashion designers. But this was not always in place. Fashion design history is not only fascinating but is fashionable and captivating.
Royalty sets the fashion in motion, was what was believed till centuries. People followed and imitated the kings and the queens. That was the only sense of fashion in those times. Fashion history witnessed its infusion through its pioneer, Paul Poiret. He was the one who dressed the elite class in Paris. Then came the era of fragrances, hats and female designer clothes. Jeane Lanvin catered to these and was the name that echoed in the ending of the eighteenth century. Then came the dawn of the nineteenth century which led to setting up of fashion design house in Paris, and the common masses were given the option to get for something that was not inspired by royalty but that suited their taste. Charles Frederick Worth, the father of fashion designing was the one who set up this Fashion house.

Followed this was the breath-stopping era that gave us our very favorite- THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS, the stardom of Coco Chanel. Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, popularly known as Coco Chanel was a French designer who found the ever famous brand ‘Chanel’

Fashion attained new heights and may be a fragrance with the coming of Christian Dior, the designer who ruled the world. Designing reached common masses. Fashion designing institute was set up for teaching Fashion Designing Courses to aspiring fashion designers who belonged to the general public. Fashion designing reached new horizons and now fashion labels are in every body’s range.
Indian fashion history is not very archaic. Indian women and men wore very traditional clothes for long. But with globalization, fashion demands started accruing in India. So to satisfy the fashion needs, with the help and advice of Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India opened the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Delhi.
