Fashion design is the art of application of design and aesthetics or natural beauty to clothing and accessories. Basic Fashion Designing is always influenced by culture and social latitudes and has varied over time and place. Fashion Designing involves a set of skills that range from market research and creativity to sketching and fabric selection. All the fashion designers guide the process of inception to production.
Modern Fashion Design is divided into two categories: Haute Couture and Ready to wear. The Haute Couture collection is dedicated to certain customers and is custom sized. Ready to wear collection are standard sized, not custom made, so they are more suitable for large production. To work as a designer you should have an artistic and creative personality. You also have to be able to work with fabric and use textiles in a creative and original manner; they have to be aware of fashion market requirements and should be able to tell the difference between different fabrics & their quality levels. Designers should have good communication skills and be able to express their ideas clearly.
